Converting To Natural Gas
THE PROCESS OF CONVERTING A BARBEQUE TO NATURAL GAS IS A SKILLED PROFESSIONAL TASK, DO NOT RISK DOING IT YOURSELF! IT MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY LICENSED GAS FITTERS. WE AT BARBITEC ARE FULLY QUALIFIED, LICENSED AND INSURED. WE ARE ALSO SERVICE AGENTS FOR MOST OF THE MAJOR BBQ MANUFACTURERS. WHY RISK IT? EMPLOY THE PROFESSIONALS....ROSS Y
One point to remember is that not all barbeques can be converted to Natural Gas. They have to be approved for conversion by the Australian Gas Association (AGA) and the appropriate Gas supply Company. This can be an expensive process for the manufacturer so thats why higher value Barbeques tend to be more available for converting than cheaper ones.
Many Manufacturers will ONLY supply Conversion Parts to their Service Agents and not to the general public, this isnt a ploy this is to protect you from unauthorised and unlicensed trades, we can supply most conversion kits, we would prefer that we do the converting but if you wish someone else to do it thats fine but in order to supply it we do need the name and license no of the Gas Fitter that will carry out the work. This protects us as well as you! Ross Y
As there has to be a NG Kit manufactured by the BBQ Manufacturer for the conversion, it is wise to ask the retailer or us just to make sure conversion is possible. The process can ONLY be carried out by qualified licensed gas personell like Barbitec. Safety is paramount so make sure you are happy with the person doing it. Not all gas fitters are comfortable doing conversions. A kit that you buy "off the shelf" is always made to suit a particular range or type of BBQ. If you are not sure DONT buy it! Ask us.
SOME MANUFACTURERS WILL ONLY SUPPLY BARBEQUES THAT HAVE BEEN "FACTORY CONVERTED" AS SUCH ONCE PURCHASED CANNOT BE CHANGED.
Over the next few months we will try and build up a list of the Barbeques / Manufacturers that have BBQs available for converting to NG, if your BBQ MANUFACTURER is not on the list it does NOT mean it cannot be converted, just that either we havent got round to adding it or we are waiting to find out ourselves. Similarly as Manufacturers are continually updating their range, if it is listed below contact us to make sure before purchase. BBQs listed in Blue are NOT APPROVED FOR NG Conversion

Pricing: Most kits come complete and it depends on whether you want your BBQ built-in or on a bayonet connection. Some kits are provided just for the BBQ and an extra "kit" is required to connect it to a bayonet. We charge on a "time" basis as some BBQS are more complex to convert than others.
Tip: If you are thinking of converting your BBQ at a later stage when you buy it for a little extra money it is worth buying the NG kit there and then as due to the ever increasing numbers of Barbeques on the market, availability of the Kit at a later stage may be a problem.
DISCLAIMER: "Everybody is fallible and we are no exception, so we have to say that Barbitec will not in any way be held responsible for the accuracy of this page, whilst we endeavour to ensure the information is correct it is always wise to contact either the store of purchase or Manufacturer prior to purchase to check if your BBQ can run on Natural Gas".
